The Talented Mr Cooper

Lee Cooper

I had the pleasure of working with Lee this Monday in Aberdeen, pleasure photographing him!! Author and film maker based in Aberdeen.

Read “Granite Grit” the story of Joes harsh upbringing in the streets of Tilly and
his quest to be crowned the bare knuckle champ and re-unite with his dad.

Toy Tin Soldier

I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing – Toy Tin Soldier last week in his home city of Glasgow.

Toy Tin Soldier is Scottish indie rock artist/singer songwriter Joe Gallacher, formerly of Mr.Kil. A solo journey supported by a revolving door of incredible support musicians he has worked with over the years, whilst touring with the likes of Hue & Cry, Turin Brakes and Martha Wainwright.
Joe was born in the outskirts of Glasgow in the small village of Blantyre. Born into a working class family, music became an escapism from the realities of being a teenage in the 90’s. Pretty soon he was in love with all sorts of bedrock music, particularly rock, blues, country and of course the 90’s Brit Pop era. Inspired by melodic Kings such as Noel Gallagher, Bruce Springsteen and more recently Foy Vance.
Toy Tin Soldier was formed soon after returning from a year long stay in Brighton. Finding himself with a collection of songs with no outlet, Joe pulled together musician mates to go into the studio to ‘let’s see what happens’. What started off as a bit of fun soon evolved into a creative collaboration with real chemistry.
“Joe possesses a rare ability to create music, although intensely personal, leaving it just vague enough that people can see themselves in it, therefore seeming a little more timeless”.
In February 2016 the release of the highly anticipated album ‘Yield’ released on indie label ‘Button-Up Records’ . A catalogue of music, ranging from gentle folk to soulful rock mixed with a little bit of punk. An album of the unexpected.
Custom Built For The Anarchy  – Official Video Release
The second single release 09/12.2016
June 23rd 2017 sees Toy Tin Soldier first ever show in the wonderful Dundee @Bar 15.  It will be a duo show. Looking forward to the show and a promised pint with the man himself after the gig.

Union Terrace Gardens – Street Art

Union Terrace Graffiti Art – Aberdeen

What do people think of when they see graffiti? Is it art, vandalism, or could it be both. Graffiti is a relatively new and developing art form that presents a lot of controversy due to its involvement of illegality. A lot of people see graffiti and instantly label it as vandalism and not an art form; however, by legal definition that’s not always the case. According to Oxford Dictionaries, art is defined as “The expression or application of human creative skill and imagination…producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.” Therefore, graffiti is and should be recognized and appreciated as an art form and accepted by the art community.

Here’s few images from a photo shoot I did with Conor Ogg in Dundee.  At a great location I found under the new Tay Bridge flyover.  A talented guy who has agreed to work with me on a regular basis over 2017.

Lots to come from this guy in 2017!!
